Internship Opportunities
Lansing Trade Group, LLC is a trading company largely focused on the movement of physical commodities including whole grains, biofuels, feed ingredients, freight and many others within North America and internationally. We are an entrepreneurial company committed to growth in existing and emerging markets. Lansing is headquartered in Overland Park, Kansas and has 10 U.S. offices as well as offices in Geneva, Switzerland and Sao Paulo, Brazil. In 2007, U.S. Annual revenues exceeded USD 4.4 billion.
The Lansing Trade Group Summer Internship Program runs for 8-10 weeks from early June to mid-August. During this period you will be exposed to the fundamentals of the commodities business at Lansing’s headquarters in Overland Park, KS. You will experience a dynamic working environment with the opportunity for hands-on experience in one of our trading locations. You will witness multiple aspects of our business including buying and selling of commodities, daily analysis of markets and price developments, logistic movements and an understanding of Lansing’s internal matrix.
Within Lansing Trade Group you may be working in one of the following groups:
· International markets, Biofuels, Corn, Wheat or Proprietary trading businesses
· Internal divisions such as Credit, Finance, Human Resources and Business Development
You will be exposed to an informal work environment geared towards learning real transaction experience. You will also be provided with additional training and information sessions including:
· Introduction to the Lansing business model
· A comprehensive two-day training session with insight into each trading and internal division
· Interaction Lansing Officers, Traders and Executives
· Weekly meetings within your division
At the conclusion of your internship, you will have the opportunity to present on your experience at Lansing and what you have learned. Full time offers for graduate positions will be available based on performance during the internship.
Requirements:
· University degree in progress with a focus in agricultural science, finance or business administration. Completion of junior year is a requirement for eligibility.
· At least 1 year of working experience or relative internship
· Fluency in English; knowledge of another language is a plus
· Demonstrated natural leadership ability
· Self-starter; highly motivated and able to work independently
· Teamwork; ability to work in a multi-cultural and cross functional team
· Global and entrepreneurial mindset
· Possess high integrity and customer service oriented approach
· Fast learning and self-development: curiosity to learn
· Willingness to take responsibility and initiative
· Able to proactively identify and resolve problems
· Detail oriented in the areas that require analysis
