LANSING EMPLOYEES RAISE OVER $15,000 TO SUPPORT LOCAL CHARITIES

September, 2008 - Several Lansing employees recently participated in Kansas City events to support local and national charities. David Eckman participated in a cycling road race to support the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and a group of employees participated in a Light The Night Walk to support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

David Eckman rode to raise money and awareness for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.  The National MS Society (NMSS) is a collective of passionate individuals who want to do something about MS now—to move together toward a world free of multiple sclerosis. MS stops people from moving. NMSS exist to make sure it doesn't.

NMSS helps each person address the challenges of living with MS through a 50-state network of chapters. The Society helps people affected by MS by funding cutting-edge research, driving change through advocacy, facilitating professional education, and providing programs and services that help people with MS and their families move their lives forward.  Over 5,500 people in the KC area, over 400,000 in the U.S. and 2.5 million worldwide are battling MS today.

This was David’s 8th year helping fight Multiple Sclerosis.  He has ridden in seven MS 150 Bike Tours and raised nearly $30,000.  This year, David’s efforts resulted in over $9,000 raised for MS.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Light The Night Walk is an annual event to raise funds for cures. It’s the nation’s night to pay tribute and bring hope to thousands of patients and their families.

Funds raised through Light The Night Walk support the work of hundreds of the world’s best and brightest researchers in their search for better therapies and cures for leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma.  Lansing employees that participated in the Light The Night Walk included Jennifer Yarbrough, Debbie Green, Linda Fisher, Ronda Anderson, Chichi Wood, Diana Arnold, Sarah Street, Lea Frankie, Danielle Ferris and Jodi Mitchell.  Together, their efforts raised over $6,000 for LLS.
